Become a Data Protection Leader With a Degree in Computer Science with an Emphasis in Machine Learning

Through WVPU’s Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science with an Emphasis in Machine Learning program, students develop the necessary skills and competencies to effectively address issues concerning information protection operations. Graduates will be qualified to help to secure digital systems from terrorism, fraud and theft, to undertake digital intelligence/counterintelligence operations, conduct digital forensics and pre-emptive IT security operations, manage cloud security and detect and protect against social engineering. Other acquired skills include the ability to design projects to develop and implement solutions to overcome challenges as they arise while communicating plans effectively.

Learning Outcomes:

Students who complete this program will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a mastery of computer science in the core knowledge areas of software development, algorithms and data structures, computer organization, hardware and architecture, and data and information management.
  • Apply knowledge of computer science to solve complex and unpredictable problems.
  • Describe how technological advances impact social issues and professional practice. 
  • Write and orally communicate technical material effectively and professionally.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the vocabulary of cybersecurity terms and phraseology.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of cybersecurity threats to IT systems.
  • Describe the roles, responsibilities and tools of a cybersecurity professional.
