Meet Some of Webster Vienna's Amazing Alumni

[Music]

[Stefano Cantini walks toward the Webster Vienna entrance and enters the building through its glass doors, then stands in the atrium with the doors behind him. He begins walking and talking toward the camera.]

Cantini: With over 200,000 members worldwide, the Webster University Alumni Association supports the ties and values created during our studies by providing an environment ...

[A montage of the alumni, all smiling: a man and a woman stand together outside; a man in a dark suit and tie walks toward the camera; two female alumnae stand together outside a building; close-up of a woman looking at the camera.]

Cantini: ... by providing an environment in which alumni from a variety of professional backgrounds can meet for informal gatherings, career advancement …

[Cantini is in the atrium, walking and talking toward the camera.]

Cantini: … cultural enrichment, guest lectures, mentoring and much more.

Cantini: I'm Stefano Cantini, president of [the] Alumni Association Vienna chapter — a place we all belong.

[Sweeping view of the many levels of the white Webster Vienna atrium.]

[Maryam Yeganefahr is seated on a green couch in a modern office space.]

Text on screen: Maryam Yeganefahr; BA ’02 Management; Owner and Creative Director; Yamyam Event Production GmbH

Yeganefahr: Going to Webster and engaging with people from all over the world just opened that part of me which I was missing in my life in Austria.

[Toni Pehar and Josipa Palac sit together at a table in their office, a sign behind them reads “ICDO: International Cultural Diversity Organization; Mixing diversities and sharing experiences.”]

Text on screen: Toni Pehar; BA ’10 Management, BS ’10 Business Administration; CFO and co-founder, ICDO

Text on screen: Josipa Palac; BA, ’11 International Relations; President and CEO, ICDO

Palac: The fondest memories of Webster — the closeness that we have with the professors and even now when we started the International Cultural Diversity Organization, we have some of our advisors who are actually also Webster professors.

[Michael Shamma, wearing a business suit, sits in bright hallway talking and looks around the interior of Webster Vienna atrium.]

Text on screen: Michael Shamma; MBA ’04; Head of Key Accounts – EMEA Pulp Sales; Eldorado Brasil S/A

Shamma: I remember very, very well the project that we used to do. We used to split into small groups, and we had to compete against the other groups. It was great to see how, as a team, we were in some cases able to succeed and how we also handled failure. They really highlighted real-life experiences we didn't know back then.

[Eleonora Neri, wearing a red blazer, and Isabella Neri, wearing an earth-tone tunic, sit together on orange bench in Webster Vienna atrium.]

Text on screen: Eleonora Neri; BA ’13 International Relations and Management; CTBTO Officer; Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Vienna, and  Isabella Neri; BA ’13 International Relations and Management; Online Communications, Communication and Media Relations Section, OSCE Secretariat

Isabella Neri: Webster actually got us to a very prestigious master program, and Master of Advanced International Studies at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna, and I think that was the first achievement we give — the bachelor we obtained at Webster University.

[Pehar and Palac again in their office, walking together outside, then sitting on a bench and talking.]

Pehar: We were founded five years ago and now we have projects in more than 12 countries worldwide.

Palac: I’m very proud on our following The Maya Voice Project because we work with Mayan communities in Mexico and now, we have worked with Ukrainian refugees.

[Eleonora and Isabella Neri on orange bench in Webster Vienna atrium, then sitting and having coffee together at a round table outside.]

Eleonora Neri: I vividly remember my career highlights — that's when I witnessed and I assisted the international organizations which is the CTBTO and the Permanent Mission of Japan during the announced nuclear weapons test of North Korea in 2016. There were actually two of them, and one in 2017.

[Yeganefahr again seated on a couch in an office, the Yamyam Event Production sign on the exterior of a building, Yeganefahr walking bicycle on the sidewalk and walking into her business.]

Yeganefahr: I founded my own business in 2008, and the way I was educated at Webster — the open-mindedness that I experienced and that was given to me and also the trust that was given in my abilities — is something that I'm passing on to everyone that I'm working with.

[Shamma straightens suit jacket while sitting on blue couch in office area, talks on a phone in a lounge.]

Shamma: What I would have wanted to hear from someone when I graduated would probably be not to waste time. I think it's important to really make profit from every moment that you're given once you graduate to ask yourself what is it that you really want to do.

[Pehar and Palac in their office, walking outside, looking at phone together on bench.]

Palac: Not to be afraid to follow your passion even if your peers or your parents, whatever, are obstacles that some other people might see. Whatever you choose you should be passionate about it and then the success will follow.

Pehar: And don't be afraid to try new things to experiment, and most of all, don't be afraid of failure.

[Yeganefahr, on couch.]

Yeganefahr: There is no end to something. You can always evolve, and you can always change, no matter how old you are.

[Eleonora and Isabella Neri on bench in Webster Vienna atrium.]

Isabella Neri: It is always good to keep the connection and the network.

Eleonora Neri: And Webster University was always there to check our CVs, to check our cover letters. We always felt that they had our backs.

[Rapid cuts of the alumni speaking in sequence.]

Isabella Neri: Webster Vienna Private University was to me fulfillment...

Palac: ... the start of my adulthood ...

Yeganefahr: ... beginning to my future ...

Shamma: ... for me a game changer ...

Pehar: ... a stepping stone to my future ...

Eleonora Neri: ... still is a safety net.
