Women, Gender, and Sexuality Around the World

Background and Facts

Maria Sagmeister studied law, art history and gender studies at the University of Vienna and the University of Rotterdam. She holds a Master of Laws (Mag. iur) and a Masters of Arts (Mag. phil.) from the University of Vienna and recently finished her dissertation on labour protection laws concerning parenthood in the context of autonomy and equality at the University of Vienna’s Department for Legal Philosophy. Her research interests lie in the areas of legal gender studies, legal theory, and philosophy as well as in fundamental rights, protest policing and sexual offence law.

She teaches law, legal philosophy and legal gender studies at the University of Vienna as well as at the Technical University of Vienna. She is one of the co-editors of the critical Law Journal juridikum.
