Can I still visit the campus?

Our campus reopened for visitors in July 2020, however we accept visits by appointment only. Students can contact us via e-mail through admissions@webster.ac.at or alternatively send us a short message via WhatsApp through mobile number +43 664 427 3641 to set up these appointments.

 

I have already confirmed my Fall (August) Semester enrollment. Will orientation or semester dates change?

WVPU’s management has considered all Covid-19-related issues and restrictions as they planned for Fall (August) 2020 classes. Students who are not able to travel to Austria due to government restrictions or delays with entry visas / student residence permits were able to start their programs on time through distance learning platforms and electronic communication with professors. The New Student Orientation is also now available as a set of 8 online modules that can be completed from anywhere. We will do our best to ensure that students can take classes in the next term and semester without any delays.

 

While I can’t visit the campus, can I still talk to a professor or advisor about some questions I have about my intended major?

Yes, all staff and faculty should be reachable by e-mail. Additionally, it is now possible to chat with members of staff online through our Unibuddy chat platform (Staff tab) at Unibuddy.

 

If my high school graduation is delayed or my school closes, what steps do I need to take to enroll at Webster Vienna?

We are monitoring updates from official state examination bodies as well as education ministries of several countries. We can still enroll students provisionally during the registration period, and in the event that graduation is significantly delayed, may defer a new student’s enrollment date. We, however, believe that state and international examination bodies will adjust their requirements to ensure that students who have worked very hard in their senior year can still successfully receive their diplomas.

 

My high school year has been extended to make up for lost instruction days. Does this affect my admission decision?

We will review our newly admitted students’ status on a case-by-case basis. The decision will be based on how long graduation is delayed and the likelihood that a student will successfully graduate from secondary school. The final option would be to defer a new student’s entry to the next possible term.

 

What should I do if I am unable to take final exams for my curriculum prior to the start of the fall term, including IB, AP, A-Levels, or national curriculum exams?

Admissions teams across the entire Webster network are monitoring updates and announcements from various international as well as national / state examination bodies. If exams are canceled but applicants are still expected to officially receive their secondary diplomas, we will review their applications based on academic records and other supporting documents (strength of their essay, recommendations, etc.).

 

What should I do if I am unable to take English proficiency exams, such as TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, or similar?

Good news! TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) may now be taken from home with live remote proctoring in many countries where internet-based testing is normally available. Please visit the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition webpage to learn more and register for this test.

With the current Covid-19 pandemic-related restrictions, additional tests aside from the standard English proficiency tests may be considered for the 2021-21 academic year; please contact the Admissions Office to find out more.

For students who have already taken state examinations, we will consider state English examination scores instead of standard English proficiency test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.) if these have been canceled or postponed in their city / country of residence.

For those who have not yet graduated or taken examinations due to cancellations, we are currently reviewing the possibility of assessing their English proficiency through their 3-year academic records, essays, past graded coursework in English (such as extended essays, term papers, reports) , and if available, recommendation letters from their English teachers or supervisors if they have worked in international companies.

Note that official test results may still be required for full acceptance later if English test centers are reopened or tests are made available online close to the start of the semester.

 

How will the current situation and inability to apply on time affect scholarship deadlines?

The provisional changes to application requirements will allow for faster application processing. Our admissions team will do their best to process applications before the deadlines. The deadline for Fall 2 Term and Spring Semester new student scholarship applications is November 30.
