Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and financial need. Only applicants who were accepted by the Admissions team for a degree program and have submitted a complete Webster Vienna Scholarship Application will be considered for a scholarship.

Webster Vienna Private University Scholarships

Webster Vienna encourages all incoming undergraduate (bachelor) and graduate (master) students with exceptional academic achievement and proven financial need to apply for a Webster Vienna Scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on the American 4-point scale.

For the Fall / August Semester 2020 entry, the scholarship deadline (July 15) has already passed. For students who start in January, a new application form and deadline will be published at the end of August. For questions about the online application form and required documents, please email Scholarship@webster.ac.at.

  • Eligibility: a newly accepted undergraduate or graduate student who has a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and outstanding spoken and written English well above the English as a Second Language level.
  • Conditions: must be enrolled full-time (24 credits/year undergraduate, 12 credits/year graduate) and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 each semester to continue until the end of the program.
  • Availability: awarded starting in the Fall I Term.

Up to ten (10) new students may receive the WV Scholarships per year. The following tuition scholarship awards are available starting August 2020.

Webster Vienna - Distinction

  • Twenty thousand euros (€20000) for 4 years in the Bachelor’s program, prorated by semester
  • Ten thousand euros (€10000) for 2 years in the Master’s program, prorated by semester

Webster Vienna - Merit

  • Fifteen thousand euros (€15000) for 4 years in the Bachelor’s program, prorated by semester
  • Eight thousand euros (€8000) for 2 years in the Master’s program, prorated by semester

Webster Vienna - Honors

  • Ten thousand euros (€10000) for 4 years in the Bachelor’s program, prorated by semester
  • Five thousand euros (€5000) for 2 years in the Master’s program, prorated by semester

  • Many believe that we learn from our mistakes. In a 1000-1200 word essay, describe a situation or experience where you learned from failure. Explain the situation, what actions you took, and how you learned from this experience.

Webster Vienna Training Scholarship

The Webster Vienna Training Scholarship (WVTS) aims to give all students the opportunity to gain valuable skills outside of the classroom. These training opportunities are available to all students, and recipients are chosen through a transparent process. Any student is able to apply for a WVTS during Open Calls for Applications. Please review the revised Terms and Conditions before applying for a WVTS. Please be aware that WVTS is not considered employment.

Webster Vienna Second Degree Grant

All Webster Alumni (with a full degree granted by Webster University) who begin a second degree at WVPU (excluding online courses / programs) during or after the 2015-2016 academic year will have the tuition fee waived for the last class of their second degree prior to graduation. This benefit does not apply to students who started a second degree prior to Fall 2015 nor to students who enroll in a certificate or online programs. To be considered for this grant, please apply for your second degree and after acceptance, complete and submit this Second Degree Grant Application Form to Scholarship[at]webster.ac.at.

Starting in Fall 2020: all Webster Alumni who begin a master’s degree at Webster Vienna (excluding online programs) during or after the Fall I 2020 Term will be eligible for a Graduate tuition fee discount of twenty percent (20%). Alumni must first be officially admitted to a master's degree program at WVPU. To apply for this grant, students must complete and submit this Second Degree Grant Application Form to Scholarship[at]webster.ac.at within the first term of their master's studies.

Webster Vienna Legacy Tuition Grant

The Webster Vienna Legacy Tuition Grant is a program that provides a 10% reduction in tuition for new incoming students whose sibling or parent (core family) currently attends Webster Vienna Private University or graduated from any of the Webster University networks of campuses. A 5% reduction in tuition applies to extended family members (aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, etc.). Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The student must begin with Webster Vienna during or after the 2015-2016 academic year;
  • The student must enroll full time (Bachelor degree);
  • The student and their sibling(s) may be concurrently enrolled;
  • The grant also applies to sibling(s) who start at the same time; and
  • Upon request, the student may be required to provide additional documentation to prove the sibling/parent relationship (e.g. birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc).

In order to confirm eligibility for this program, students must complete and submit a Webster Vienna Legacy Grant Application Form to Scholarship[at]webster.ac.at along with supporting documents (such as copies of birth certificates or other official records) confirming the grant applicant’s relationship with the current or former Webster student before the end of their first semester.

Borealis Social Scholarship

General Description

The Borealis Social Scholarship has been made available to Webster Vienna Private University by the generosity of Webster Vienna's Partner in Education, Borealis AG.

The scholarship will be awarded to an incoming undergraduate student (first-time freshmen, i.e. coming directly from high school) on the basis of demonstrated financial need and academic excellence. Transfer students from other accredited universities (accredited by the Ministry of Education in the institution’s country) are not eligible to apply.

The Borealis Social Scholarship carries a nearly full-tuition award for one incoming undergraduate student with outstanding academic excellence and proven financial need who will begin his or her studies in the Fall 1 term 2020.

This partial scholarship covers 21,000 Euros of tuition per academic year. The remaining tuition and other costs, i.e. lab fees, study trips, etc., must be paid for by the student according to the official WVPU payment deadlines.

The scholarship is renewable annually up to a total of 4 years.

Eligibility & Conditions

Eligibility:

  • Eligible students should have achieved a cumulative academic GPA (Grade Point Average) between 3.5 and 4.0 on a scale of 4.0.;
  • The student must be accepted into the undergraduate program in accordance with the standard admissions requirements of Webster Vienna Private University;
  • The Scholarship student must be enrolled full-time and may begin their first year of study in the Fall I semester 2020;
  • Proven English proficiency of the scholarship student is crucial: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), IELTS, or Cambridge Advanced Certificate (CAE) scores are required prior to admission if it is not established that the student is a native English speaker; and
  • Students accepted on probation or those who need to take ESLG (English as a second language) classes are not eligible.

Conditions:

The Borealis Social Scholarship applies to courses successfully completed at the Webster Vienna Private University campus and does not cover online courses.

  • The student is not allowed to stay out of the program for more than two terms (= 1 semester);
  • The student must be enrolled full-time, complete a minimum of 12 US credits per semester;
  • The student may study abroad at another Webster University location for a maximum of two terms (1 semester), but the student must first meet with the academic advisor to ensure that he/she meets the minimum credit requirements and completes the last 36 credits at the Webster Vienna campus in order to qualify for the Austrian-accredited WVPU diploma;
  • The scholarship is renewable each year and will be reviewed at the end of each semester to determine whether the scholarship recipient has fulfilled the scholarship conditions and achieved the required grade point average (GPA);
  • If the scholarship recipient’s cumulative GPA falls below a 3.5, but their session GPA (i.e. term grades = session GPA) is between a 3.33 – 3.5, the student will go on probation. While on probation the student must complete at least 12 US credit hours of coursework per semester, may not withdraw from any class, and must achieve a session GPA of at least 3.5.;
  • If the student’s session GPA is 3.5. or higher again after the probation semester, he or she will be removed from probation. If, however, in any further semester after the probationary semester the student’s session GPA falls below 3.5, he/she loses the scholarship; and
  • If a student’s cumulative GPA drops below a 3.33, they will lose funding.

Webster Vienna Private University and Borealis welcome applications from students from all countries.

Required application documents:

  • Résumé/CV;
  • 1 additional recommendation letter aside from the one submitted to Admissions;
  • Income statements of all persons responsible for financing the students' education;
  • 1000-1200 word essay on one of the two topics below:

a. Many students at Webster Vienna Private University have cultural heritage, skill, or talent that defines them and enriches the lives of their peers. If you hold such an interest or have a unique background, please share more in a 1000-1200 word essay; or

Borealis Excellence Award

General Description

The Borealis Excellence Award has been made available to Webster Vienna Private University by the generosity of Webster Vienna's Partner in Education, Borealis AG. Eligible freshmen students will be chosen by the Scholarship Committee based on:

Main Criteria:

  • GPA between 3.8 and 4.0
  • Criteria will be applied to eligible students after their first-time freshman year at Webster Vienna Private University after the Spring II-term 2020.

Additional Excellence Criteria:

I. Measurable criteria

  • The workload of the scholarship candidate (credit hours);
  • Admission/Enrollment in Webster’s Scholars Program;
  • Involvement in the LEADS Leadership Certificate Program; and
  • Evidence of outstanding term paper(s) or other assignments, participation in research projects.

II. Other relevant criteria

  • Voluntary work (at previous educational institutions and in any on-campus clubs, organizations, i.e. Student Government Association);
  • Active participation in on-campus activities;
  • Work experience (internships etc.);
  • Evidence of leadership/Evidence of being a pro-active initiator of projects;
  • Interest/involvement in research activities of (supervisor’s evaluation on student performance);
  • Positive learning attitude based on the instructor’s feedback;
  • Intellectual development. i.e. the student’s capability to develop a comprehensive understanding of the topics studied and the ability to apply/transfer learned knowledge, formulate focused questions develop problem-solving strategies (based on the instructor’s feedback);
  • Creative and independent thought (‘Outside the box’-thinking);
  • Ethical sensitivities;
  • Good character qualities (integrity, responsibility, respect); and
  • Is the student a Team player? Does the student help classmates and work collaboratively?

Land Wien

In Fall I 2020 we offer one renewable and one one-time scholarship.

  • Value Scholarship 1: One scholarship of € 6,000 per year; renewable annually up to a total of 4 years (undergraduate) or for 2.5 years (graduate); The scholarship will be reviewed at the end of each semester to determine whether the student has fulfilled the scholarship conditions and achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
  • Value Scholarship 2: One partial one-time scholarship of € 1,485 for Fall 2020 semester. This scholarship is not renewable.

Eligibility: A newly accepted undergraduate or graduate student who is an Austrian citizen, holds an Austrian Matura, and who has a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and outstanding spoken and written English above the English as a Second Language level. Transfer students are not eligible to receive this award; and

Conditions: Must be enrolled full-time (Undergraduate with 24 credits/year , Graduate with 12 credits/year). The recipient of the scholarship 1 must maintain a GPA of 3.0 each semester for renewal. During the time the scholarship is in effect, the student will abide by the disciplinary and academic policies set forth in the Student Academic Handbook and Student Code of Ethics.

Merit Award - Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research

Each year in late fall, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research accept applications for a merit award from outstanding Webster Vienna undergraduate and graduate students.

Value: Euro 750 – Euro 1,500 (depending on the number of awards); the award is based on academic excellence.

Eligibility: Enrolled degree-seeking students with a minimum GPA of at least 3.3 who have a minimum number of credit hours at Webster Vienna (Undergraduates 24 credits, Graduates 12 credits). Students must either be:

  • an Austrian citizen;
  • an EEA (European Economic Area) citizen with close ties to Austria (meaning that the student has lived in Austria for the past five years and that either the student or one parent has worked in Austria),
  • a citizen from other countries if they have lived in Austria for the past five years and at least one parent has paid income tax in Austria; and
  • or a refugee according to the Geneva Convention.

Please note, that the Merit Award tends to be very competitive and not all students who apply will receive an award.

educations.com is offering a €5000 scholarship to one ambitious Master’s student studying abroad in Europe in the fall of 2020. The scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding leader that is motivated to positively change the world.

Prospective masters-level students have from April 8, 2019, until April 13, 2020, to submit their applications. The winner of the €5000 scholarship will be announced from June 1, 2020, and awarded in the fall of 2020.

Webster University St. Louis Scholarship

Leif J. Sverdrup International Scholarship

Webster University St. Louis offers study awards to provide students from its European campuses the opportunity to study at the main campus for one or two terms.

  • Value: Ranges from $1,250 to $2,500; depending on the length of the study experience; the award will be applied to the student's account in St. Louis and must be used for tuition.
  • Eligibility: A current Webster Vienna student, awarded on the basis of academic excellence, recommendations, an essay, and a curriculum vitae.
  • Undergraduates: Minimum 3.3 GPA.
  • Graduates: No grade lower than "B."
  • Conditions: Students who receive the award should be registered as full-time Vienna campus students but will attend classes at the St. Louis campus.
