Webster Scholars Internships

On March 7th, the Webster Scholars Program students presented the results of their social impact internships from the last two months, a part of their second course in the program: Paradigms in Global Citizenship (GNST 2500/50). The exciting internship opportunities were brought to the students by course professor Rita Pollozhani  in cooperation with Steliana Kokonova from the Impact Hub and Reka Artner from TEDxVienna. By pairing each Webster Scholar up with a social entrepreneur, the internships provided the students a unique learning experience.

Professor Julia Skobeleva's Spring I Graduate Organizational Behavior course spiced up their last class of the term with an architecture competition. Intended to demonstrate the interaction between individual team roles in an organizational environment, the students were challenged to work in groups to construct a tower using a set of provided materials.

A class debate of Freshmen Seminar GNST 2500 (scholar students) took place on Friday, February 14 at 2 - 4pm at Petersplatz.  The event was on some of the course themes around Strengths/ Weaknesses and Success, based on the readings from Carlo Strenger (Fear of Insignificance) and Malcolm Gladwell (David and Goliath).

WebsterLEADS Workshop

Under the guidance of Jutta Pedigo, Webster University Vienna and Alexandra Elias, 22 student leaders attended the WebsterLEADS workshop at Villa Aurora on February 21st, 2014.Our experienced trainer Christopher Greulich presented us a toolkit of "Leadership Accessories For on the Go".

Webster's Got Talent 2014

What an amazing night at our second Webster’s Got Talent Vienna show!!!

The talent show was successfully held on Feb 13th. All the participants showcased their talent in front of a big crowd of students, staff and guests.
Congratulations to our 1st place winner Syreel Mishra with her amazing Bollywood dance performance and our 2nd place winner Artyom Rayevskiy with his electrifying Elecro-dance.They will get the chance to defend their title and represent Vienna at the Webster’s Got Talent Finals in London on March 29th.

Students Meet Austrian Filmmaker

Erwin Wagenhofer, one of Austria’s leading documentary film-makers, gave a stimulating talk to Webster students and faculty in Vienna’s Burg Cinema on Friday 14th February after a showing of his latest film alphabet. The documentary, which takes a critical worldwide look at educational systems based on competitiveness and economic needs rather than individual creativity, is particularly relevant to Webster’s 2013-14 Year of International Human Rights theme - the rights of people with so-called disabilities.

Model UN Practice

Model UN practices for international conferences

The Webster Model UN team held its first practice simulation in preparation for upcoming conferences in France and Romania.

The students in the MUN team enacted a hypothetical Security Council meeting on Thursday, February 13th. The simulated council meeting was held in response to the news that the the Islamic Republic of Iran violated the recent Geneva Interim Agreement and was in the possession of highly enriched uranium and had the capability to build a nuclear bomb within two weeks.  The students played their roles with enthusiasm and everyone enjoyed the simulation.
