CTBTO's Integrated Field Exercise documented by Webster faculty

Webster Vienna’s adjunct faculty member, Dr. Phil Moran, is currently in the Middle East documenting efforts to uncover a possible nuclear weapons test. Don’t worry, it’s just an exercise; Phil Moran and his team are working with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) to cover the Integrated Field Exercise, IFE14.

Psychology Inaugural Lecture

On November the 20th Ass. Prof. Kathleen Hodkinson from Psychology introduced all of us to the fascinating field of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) including Research and Treatment. On November 13, 2014, Michelle Weiss, Head of Recruiting at Nestlé, the world's leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company, met with interested students and alumni on campus to talk about the various career opportunities that Nestlé and Nespresso offer worldwide.
Their mission of 'Good Food, Good Life' is to provide consumers with the best tasting, most nutritious choices in a wide range of food and beverage categories and eating occasions, from morning to night.

On the 18th of November 2014, history came alive at Webster Vienna. A Roman-style banquet took place in the Atrium, organized by the students and instructors, Dorothy Kopel and Chris Newman, of ILC 2150: European Culinary History from Prehistory to the Renaissance. The Webster community enthusiastically joined the festivity and enjoyed some authentic Roman dishes in a typical Roman atmosphere.The cuisine was prepared by the Dr. Kopel and her students using ancient Roman recipes!


Inaugural Lecture: Dr. Algieri on Europe's unsatisfactory Asia-policies

European-Asian relations expert Dr. Franco Algieri presented his critical view on the current state of European Asia-policies. Comparing the European to the United States' approach to the Asia-Pacific region in general, and China in particular, Dr. Algieri pointed out three factors making European policies less effective: first, there are analytical challenges: who is acting, the EU or its member states? Are security policies part of the deal? Europe acts as liberal-institutionalist without playing realism, whereas Asian countries play both.

Dr. Arthur Hirsh gives a speech on “The End of History Re-Visited”

On November 7th, 2014, Dr. Arthur Hirsh gave an invited Keynote Speech in Berlin at the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy’s Annual Conference entitled, “A World without Walls.” This conference marked the historic occasion of the 25 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall.

Founded in 1999, the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) is an international, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) with headquarters in Berlin, Germany.

The Mentoring-Kickoff was much more than just a well organized event, it is a value added for students and an USP for Webster Vienna Private University.
