Wenkheim Celebration!

On 1st of October the new home of Webster Vienna Private University was celebrated by students, alumni, faculty and staff. While Director Dr. Arthur Hirsh gave an Opening Speech and pointed out that “this move is a step into the right direction for the years to come”, the astonished faces of the visitors wandered around the new breathtaking facility. A video showed the steps of the refurbishment over the past six months.

Alumna Presents Exhibition at Stilwerk

Eva Petrič, a Webster Vienna alumna who graduated with a BA in Art and Psychology in 2005, has launched an exhibition just around the corner of Palais Wenkheim. Located in stilwerk (Praterstraße 1, 1020 Vienna), and called "playGROUND – there’s no place like home", it asks questions about space and identity. "What is our home, where is our home? What defines the concept of home? Territory, language, culture, traditions, family, relatives, physical borders?"

Inaugural Lecture Series

The Webster Inaugural Lecture Series allow newest research faculty members to academically present their research and findings to a broader public. In Fall 2014, the new International Relations Head of Department, Dr. Franco Algieri and International Relations Department Research Faculty member, Dr. Elina Brutschin, will hold their inaugural lectures.

Our Webster team took up the challenge and 25 students, alumni, faculty and staff ran the 5km race to support the charity Licht Fuer die Welt.. Fun and fitness all round, especially for Webster champ Allison Kincaid who finished in a blistering 21:42!

Inaugural Lecture Dr. Elina Brutschin

Computer Simulations in International Relations

Dr. Elina Brutschin, latest addition to the Webster International Relations Department Research Faculty, will present a core field of her extensive research activities. She recently presented the findings of using a methodology of computer simulations with regard to EU decision making at the ECPR (European Consortium for Political Research) Conference held at the University of Glasgow, September 3-6, 2014. On Friday evening, September 26th, Webster Vienna Academic Director Dr. Regina Kecht invited all Webster Scholars Program students, support staff, and faculty to her home to celebrate the beginning of the academic year and the incoming Webster Scholars cohort.
 
After enjoying a wonderful buffet, Webster Scholars Program coordinator Dr. Dorothy Kopel discussed upcoming events and underlined the program coordinators' desire that the program remain in constant creation and respond to the aspirations of its scholars.

Brunch for Scholarship students

The Webster Vienna community celebrated both new and returning scholarship students today at brunch in their honor. Scholarship coordinator Katherine Price Beuchert, Academic Director Dr. Regina Kecht, and Student Services Coordinator Jesse Alexander spoke at the event, which highlighted the rigorous academic standards and service aspects of scholarships at Webster Vienna.
