From Silvio Berlusconi’s stronghold on Italian broadcasting to murky ownership of the press in Bulgaria, the problem of media plurality is increasing throughout Europe. Without a variety of voices able to reach its audience, basic freedoms cannot be practiced.

Dunja Mijatović, the Representative on Freedom of the Media at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), will speak on the problem of media plurality in this Guest Lecture at Webster Vienna.

Putting Happiness at the Center of Development

Program Director of the Gross National Happiness Centre in Bhutan to give a guest lecture at Webster  

“What aim do we assign to politics, and what is the highest good of our actions? There is, at least, practically universal agreement about its name: happiness”, Aristotle wrote in in his best known work on ethics.   Dr. Tho Ha Vinh, the Program Director of the Center for Gross National Happiness (GNH) in Bhutan will discuss how GNH places happiness at the center of development in a public lecture taking place at Webster Vienna Private University on January 22 at 18:00.

In 2014, the first two Webster Vienna students passed the challenging Level 1 CFA exam.

New Student Orientation Spring I, 2015

This January, we welcomed our students for New Student Orientation with an assortment of activities. Between a series of tours, introductions and activities to help the students get to know each other and the university, the group was treated to a complementary breakfast and lunch. Now that they are all aware of who to contact for a schnitzel dinner or a night out of karaoke, we hope all of our new and study abroad students have a great term!

Profs. Schubert, Pollak and Brutschin publish on Russia-EU-Ukraine in EJFR

The International Relations Department is happy to announce the publication of Dr. Schubert, Dr. Pollak and Dr. Brutschin’s most recent research. Prevention Video Project for the UNODC

Professor Velásquez Montiel-Probst's Lifespan Development Class (PSYC 2300) has teamed up with the UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) and Webster Vienna's Media Department over the last few months to develop videos to help prevent drug abuse and crime worldwide.

NSO 2013

New Student Orientation (Spring I, 2015)

The New Student Orientation (NSO) will kick off for our incoming undergraduate and graduate students from January 7th-11th. It is a great opportunity to meet one’s peers new to Webster and familiarize oneself with the American university system. Students also have the opportunity to meet and make an appointment with the academic advisor, learn more about Vienna and all it has to offer to degree seeking students, discuss cultural differences and culture shock, and last but not least get acquainted with the Webster Vienna campus and its various services, staff and faculty.

Turning Creativity into real Economic Value

In this video Professor Dr. Julia Skobeleva describes her vision of how she is building bridges between the Business & Management Department and Media Department at Webster Vienna. It is important for business students to learn to be more creative and media communications students to learn business skills. Her students seem to agree. 

Psychology Inaugural Lecture

Yesterday, on December the 4th Psychology's Ass.Prof. Marc Mehu gave his Inaugural Lecture about Nonverbal Communication. By using verbal communication he told us a lot about the tools that we all use to communicate without using language. Thanks Marc for an informative and wonderful evening.
