Background

In December 2016, Ryan Crawford joined the International Relations Department as Assistant Professor of Political Philosophy, and also serves as the Head of Webster Vienna's Global Citizenship Program. He has been awarded the Schön Nobel Teacher of the Year Award by the Student Government Association three times since he began teaching at Webster in 2012.

From April 2008 to July 2012, he taught at the State University of New York at Buffalo while completing his MA in Comparative Literature (2010) and his PhD in English (2012) under the supervision of Rodolphe Gasché and Joan Copjec. At SUNY-Buffalo, he served on the editorial board of umbr(a): a journal of the unconscious and theory@buffalo. His current research interests are in the fields of Frankfurt School Critical Theory, contemporary political theory, art, literature and aesthetics.
