Seth Weiner, BFA, M.Arch
Based in Vienna, artist Seth Weiner’s work in sound, space and material production is dedicated to the development of a practice of artistic research for which the formal limitations of material are the means for informed and undisciplined experiment.
Prior to completing his Masters of Architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (Sci-Arc), he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In addition to further study at the New School’s Summer Art Studio (NY, 2006) and the Center for the Creation of Music Iannis Xenakis (Paris, 2006), he has also served as co-artistic director for the record label Care Of Editions (Berlin, 2012-present), provided design and art direction for Creative Rights Nonprofit (Detroit, 2011-2015), worked as an architectural designer at ZellnerPlus (LA, 2009-2011) and did research and design for Metropolitan Research & Economics (LA, 2010).
Weiner’s most recent exhibition work includes a solo show at Blickle Raum (Vienna, 2017), an ongoing online project for Palais des Beaux Arts Vienna (2017), a group show at the Salon fuer Kunstbuch (Vienna, 2017) and the spatial concept for Kunstraum Niederoesterreich’s “Crisis as Ideology” show (Vienna, 2016). Recent writings and published works include “Vaporous Evening Dresses,” in continent., Issue 6.3 (forthcoming 2017), “A Bull in Wet Concrete,” in Maske und Kothurn: Internationale Beiträge zur Theater-, Film- und Medienwissenschaft (Vienna: Böhlau Verlag, 2016), and “To the Side of the Desk,” in Silver Linings (Vienna: Breite Gasse Publishing, 2015).
