Review Mentoring Program

2014/15

„Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen and a push in the right direction.” - John C. Crosby (1859 – 1943), American Politician

This statement summarizes the alumni mentoring project at Webster Vienna Private University perfectly. In October 2014, 15 alumni from Vienna, Dubai, Amman, Prague, Bogota and Moscow and soon to be graduates from the Vienna campus met each other for the first time either personally at the kick-off event or digitally via Skype.

From October 2014 to May 2015, the program provided an excellent opportunity for the mentors and mentees to engage in inspiring, challenging and productive conversations around academic, professional and life goals. Students had the chance to draw upon their individual mentor’s knowledge, skill set and wealth of experiences. Professional relationships and friendships developed.

On May 5, 2015 alumni and students gathered to celebrate the culmination of this project at Palais Wenkheim. Lydia Goutas, Managing Partner at LEHNER EXECUTIVE PARTNERS, shared her insights into current employment trends and gave the students some advice when entering the job market.

On May 21, 2015 Webster Vienna invited the local mentors to a thank you-dinner at the Hilton Plaza Hotel, which included an interesting behind-the-scenes tour of the newly refurbished hotel, to express the university's gratitude to the alumni who not only volunteered their time but also showed dedication, support and commitment.
