The Center for Liberal Arts invites students, faculty, and other members of the Webster Vienna community to a special guest lecture from visiting Dean Emeritus of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. David Carl Wilson!
Leadership scholars have no agreed-upon definition of leadership. This has resulted in scholarly positions that make no sense to the practitioner, and leaves us with no means of resolving these problems. This paper provides a philosophical analysis of the concept of leadership and shows that there are actually two concepts of leadership which academics are conflating. Once this is clarified, and the two definitions of leadership are delineated, the problems are eliminated and we have a way of thinking about leadership that makes sense to the academic, the leader, and the follower.
