Webster European Talent Show and Football Tourney

Last weekend, the Webster European community came together on our Geneva campus for the annual weekend festivities surrounding Webster's Got Talent Europe and the Webster European Football Tournament.

Aspiring artists and footballers from the Vienna, Geneva and Leiden campuses went head-to-head on Saturday, first with a five-team indoor football tournament followed by an evening talent show, featuring the winners of each campus' local competition.

Webster at the Vienna City Marathon

Once again this year, Webster Vienna students, staff, faculty and alumni were part of one of the city's most exciting events - the Vienna City Marathon.

Among the more than 42,000 runners were two Webster relay teams (4 members ran legs adding up to the distance of a marathon, 42km), several half-marathoners and one brave full marathon runner.

Webster International Night

Palais Wenkheim was alive with the sounds of the international student community last night as Webster Vienna played host to its first-ever International Night. The evening featured a buffet of foods from diverse kitchens from Austria to Egypt to West Africa, a fashion show of different traditional costumes, and performances.

Mauthausen Memorial Visit

Mauthausen Memorial Visit

Last Saturday, Webster students travelled to Upper Austria for a memorial visit to the former Nazi concentration camp of Mauthausen.

From 1938 to 1945, Mauthausen was the main concentration camp in what is now Austria (then part of Germany) until its liberation by Allied troops on May 5 - one of the last camps to be freed.

Webster's Got Talent 2016

The fourth edition of Webster's Got Talent (WGT) Vienna set the town on fire last Friday night, as six creative students stepped into the limelight for the right to represent the Vienna Campus at the Webster's Got Talent Europe competition to be held in Geneva in April.

Students, staff and faculty packed local club Chaya Fuera to get a glimpse of the action - and they weren't to be disappointed.

Graduate student James Seibert got the show started with a powerful rendition of the anthem of the musical Chess, which set the tone for the evening and drew loud cheers.

Leadership Students Partners in Crime

Last Friday, a team of Webster's leadership program students (Webster LEADS) set out on an adventure to figure out whether they could work together to solve a room full of riddles under time pressure!

Our intrepid young leaders spent the afternoon at Crime Runners, Vienna's hottest room escape experience, to have fun while working on team building. Afterwards, they reflected on teamwork and leadership under time constraints, and in unpredictable surroundings.

Vienna Ball of Sciences 2016

The Webster Community got a taste of traditional Viennese culture over the weekend.

Over 50 very fancy and stylish Webster students, faculty and staff attended the second annual Vienna Ball of Sciences (Wiener Ball der Wissenschaften) this past Saturday, January 30th 2016.

Thanks Friday's crash dance course from Tanzschule Elmayer and a lovely pre-ball reception at Palais Wenkheim, both organised by the Student Government Association (SGA) our students were waltzing the night away.

New Student Orientation Spring 1, 2016

Webster Vienna welcomed our Spring 1 new students to the community at the beginning of January 2016!

Football team friendlies

Webster Vienna's Football club tested their mettle last week in two spirited friendly matches against local opponents.

Webster's football talents formed two 7-man teams to square off on an unseasonably warm night against PROSA, a high school team consisting of asylum seekers, and the experienced squad of NAFA, a local African football academy.

Student Leadership retreat

Last weekend students of the leadership certificate program Webster LEADS gathered in Hainburg for Webster Vienna's first-ever 24-hour mini-leadership retreat. Ten freshmen and four upperclassmen Senior Student Leaders attended.

Led by the program's Senior Leaders and Student Affairs staff, the group worked on team-building, goal-setting, reflection, team-work, and group communication. Activities included mapping their leadership journeys, cooking, and discussing different leadership personalities.
