New Student Orientation Fall 2 2016

The Webster Vienna Community has once again expanded!

Our new Gorloks have arrived at Webster Vienna for the quarterly New Student Orientation (NSO) program before the start of the Fall II term. Staff, faculty, student leaders of the WebsterLEADS program and the Student Government Association (SGA) welcomed the new students and led a series of workshops and activities to get them started on the right foot and ensure they have all the tools for a successful student experience leading to graduation day.

Webster Works Worldwide Charity Day

This Wednesday, the global Webster network marked the 22nd annual Webster Works Worldwide charity action day. At the Vienna campus, we hosted our traditional bake sale to raise funds for the Saint Anna's Children's Hospital. Students took the lead by organizing a baking session at the dormitory kitchen. Colleagues and staff and faculty contributed baked goods as well.

After a delicious day of taste-testing and fundraising, our team counted up the results - 1000EUR were raised for the hospital's treatment of cancer-stricken children.

Intercultural Leadership Workshop

Last Friday, students in our undergraduate leadership certificate program, WebsterLEADS, came together for an afternoon of leadership skill learning and team building. The workshop concentrated on the leadership in a cultural diverse context, and was organized and led by senior leadership student Alexis Wing along with LEADS program head Jesse Alexander of Student Services.

Vienna Night Run

Once again this year, our Webster Vienna students and faculty members participated in the Vienna Night Run, a 5 km run around Vienna´s well known Ringstrasse. Around 20 runners participated, part of their fees going to the “Licht für die Welt” charity. The top male runner was student Jonah Munzer, while the top female was student Petya Dimova.

Some of our students came to cheer on their colleagues and reported on the experience (some runners and reporters participated as part of the First Year Seminar course, which features a Vienna at Night theme).

Alumni and International Campuses in New Campus Art

Webster University is celebrating 35 years in Vienna. Webster Vienna would like to take the opportunity to thank all the Alumni who gave these 35 years nearly 3000 faces and names. These names are at the center of a unique art installation in the atrium of the Viennese campus at Palais Wenkheim.

Student Life Fair Fall 2016

Yesterday, Webster Vienna's atrium was filled with excitement, laughter, and smiles - the sounds of a community being built! Our annual Student Life Fair gives all students the chance to meet and interact with our campus student organizations, services, and external partners.

New Student Orientation Fall 1 2016

It's that time of year again! Last week Palais Wenkheim was a hive of activity as our newest group of eager Gorloks arrived for their New Student Orientation (NSO) program before classes begin.

European Leadership Retreat 2016

This past weekend, 30 students of the Webster LEADS leadership program from the Geneva, Leiden and Vienna campuses met up for what has become a hallowed annual tradition - the joint European leadership retreat.

Orthodox Easter Celebration

The Webster community gathered last Friday to celebrate Orthodox Easter, an important holiday for many of our students.

An egg-painting station was set up in the atrium for all who wished to try their hand at the traditional activity - and students, staff and family members from many different faiths did just that. Their creations included traditional designs, but also patterns incorporating their own traditions, including Persian lettering and other Middle Eastern styles.
