Vienna, the Most Prosperous City in the World!

Vienna has, once again, found itself at the top of another worldwide city-ranking.

This time, the city gained the title of most prosperous city in the world according to "State of the World's Cities 2012/2013", a 152-page study performed by United Nations Human Settlements Programme HABITAT experts.  

Decisions were based on two sections: The first section took into consideration productivity, quality of life, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability. The second additionally evaluated equity and social inclusion.

Webster Students raise 700 euro for Kenyan Elementary School

Students at the Vienna campus held a fund-raising social event in September 2013. They succeeded in raising 700 euros – congratulations! The money will go towards supporting an elementary school in western Kenya. The money will most likely be spent on much-needed school books, desks, and chairs for the elementary students. The school is one of three supported by the Waluka project, a charity run by adjunct faculty member Giles Pope.

Webster Vienna takes part in Rotary Club Charity Kart Race

With 14 teams and 56 drivers, our team ranked 8th place!

A Thursday night at the Daytona Kart ring just outside of Vienna: The music is pumping, the atmosphere vibrant with adrenalin in the air. A Kart race was just about to start with a courageous Webster team right in the middle. All geared in black racing suits, they are certainly dressed for success!

"What a fantastic opportunity for Webster University to shine not only in the classroom, but also on a Kart rink", says Rotarian Dr. Christopher Kummer, MBA Director at Webster Vienna.

Ibubi Primary School in Kenya

Last December Webster Vienna held its annual Holiday Punch event in combination with the Webster Works Worldwide #18 in the form of a fundraiser for the Ibubi Primary School in Kenya. Donations were collected to support the needy which in this case were students of the Ibubi Primary School in Kenya. The donation went towards purchasing textbooks and school supplies for these students.

The pictures of happy students of Ibubi proudly showing their books were sent to us by the Head Teacher Joshua Maboko Echoka through Dr. Giles Pope, Adjunct Professor of Webster University, Vienna.

Learn About Viennese Food, Coffee and Wine Culture

On September 24, 2013, students enrolled In ILC 2150 (Topics in Culture:  Viennese Food Culture) enjoyed learning about Viennese wine culture while visiting a local Heuriger in Grinzing.

Global Photo Contest

The Center for International Education and Multicultural Center and International Student Affairs (MCISA) are again co-sponsoring a Global Photo Contest for all current undergraduate and graduate Webster students.

Only digital images with a resolution of 300 dpi (2,000 X 3,000 pixels) or greater in a jpeg format will be accepted. The winners will be displayed in the Small Wall Gallery, 2nd floor, Sverdrup Building; Loretto Hall and the MCISA lounge during the month of November.

Webster University Ranked Highest Ever by U.S. News and World Report

ST. LOUIS - Webster University moved up three spots in the just-released “America’s Best Colleges” 2014 edition of “U.S. News & World Report” from 24th to 21st in the Regional University-Midwest category. For the fifth consecutive year, Webster University tops its category for schools in the St. Louis Area.

Celebration Brunch - Student Leaders

To show appreciation for all the hard work the student leaders put into making each New Student Orientation day run smoothly, Webster Vienna Student Affairs coordinator Jutta Pedigo organized a thank you breakfast on Aug. 30 with the help of her Student Affairs assistant Tamara Frcek.

Academic director Maria-Regina Kecht and staff members also peeked into the celebration to toast the students and Pedigo.

Scholarships for New Students

There are scholarships available for new students starting in October, January or March.

  • City of Vienna Division of Cultural Affairs Scholarship: For Austrian citizens holding an Austrian Matura, 2 scholarships available (value of each € 6,000/year) for a total value of € 12,000. (Undergraduate)
  • Webster University Vienna Scholarships for new students: For Undergraduate and Graduate students. Up to 50% of tuition per year.

Welcome all New Students for Fall 1!

The Fall 1 New Student Orientation takes place for three days and it is a mixture of information sessions during the days and fun activities in the evenings. Thank you all Webster Student Leaders for making everyone feel at home and find their way around campus and Vienna!
