Schubert on ZIB Magazin

On Monday, September 12th, 2016, Dr. Samuel R. Schubert appeared on Austrian National Television’s (ORF) "Zeit im Bild (ZIB) Magazin" commenting the U.S. presidential elections. In the interview, he discussed the recent pneumonia diagnosis of the Democratic candidate, Sec. Hillary Clinton, and its possible impacts on her campaign, as well as the general elections.

J. Zakary: Humanitarian Careers Talk

Joshua Zakary, who is a double graduate of Webster University (B.A., Marketing, Leiden ’06; M.A., International Marketing, Vienna ’08), spoke to current Webster Vienna students about his career in the humanitarian sector on September 14, 2016.

Guest Lecture: Witnessing History in the Nuclear Age - With Reiko Yamada, Atomic Bomb Survivor, Hiroshima, WWII

In honor of the day of International Peace,  Ms. Reiko Yamada, survivor of the attack on Hiroshima will speak at Webster Vienna Private University.   She will be accompanied by Ms.  Heather Wokusch, an international educator  with 30 years of teaching experience who has taught and spoken about nuclear disarmament extensively. Ms. Reiko Yamada has dedicated her life to peace and nuclear disarmament, and  will offer the precious and rare opportunity for the participants to hear firsthand accounts on the humanitarian impact of the use of nuclear weapons.

Webster Vienna and ACUNS Collaborate in Panel Discussion on Campus

On September 6th 2016, the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS) Vienna Liaison organized a panel discussion, which was hosted by Webster Vienna Private University on “Youth Combatting Discrimination and Prejudice on the Grounds of Ethnicity and Religion”. The discussion was chaired by Dr. Franco Algieri, the Head of the International Relations Department at Webster Vienna. The panelists that participated in this discussion were: HE Ol’ga Algayerova, the Head of the Permanent Mission of the Slovak Republic to the International Organizations in Vienna, as well as Ms.

Students Participate in High-Level Political Forum

Three Webster students, Anda Radu, Zak Kilhoffer, and Arbana Gjoni took part in the Crans Montana Forum on Central to Far-Eastern Europe held in Palais Niederösterreich, Vienna, between 29 June and 1 July. The forum featured an impressive roster of participants and speakers including three current heads of state, several former prime ministers, a number of current parliamentarians, and dozens of experts in corruption, energy security, migration, development, and other pertinent topics.

Brutschin, Fleig Published in "Energy Policy"

Dr. Elina Brutschin and Dr. Andreas Fleig published their article “Innovation in the energy sector – The role of fossil fuels and developing economies” in the peer-reviewed journal Energy Policy, which is considered one of the top journals in the field. The study is among the first attempts to include data on non-OECD members in a quantitative analysis of innovation efforts in the energy sector.

Global Master of Arts - Graduation Luncheon

On Monday, July 11th, the 2016 class of students celebrated their completion of Webster University's Global Masters of Arts in International Relations and Global Masters of Arts in International Non-Governmental Organizations at a luncheon at the Palais Wenkheim, home of the Vienna campus.  Academic Head of Program Dr. Amanda Rosen and Worldwide Director of International Relations Dr. Kelly-Kate Pease joined the International Relations faculty and staff of the Vienna campus to congratulate the students and toast their achievements.
