Atomic Bomb Survivor Visits Webster Vienna on International Day of Peace

On September 21st, 2016 Webster Vienna had the distinct honor of having Reiko Yamada, survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945, visit our campus. Despite the many hardships Reiko has had to endure after the bombing, her message is one of peace, love, forgiveness and a call to the youth of today to be aware of the dangers that lie in nuclear proliferation and war.

Schubert on ZIB Magazin

On Monday, September 12th, 2016, Dr. Samuel R. Schubert appeared on Austrian National Television’s (ORF) "Zeit im Bild (ZIB) Magazin" commenting the U.S. presidential elections. In the interview, he discussed the recent pneumonia diagnosis of the Democratic candidate, Sec. Hillary Clinton, and its possible impacts on her campaign, as well as the general elections.

J. Zakary: Humanitarian Careers Talk

Joshua Zakary, who is a double graduate of Webster University (B.A., Marketing, Leiden ’06; M.A., International Marketing, Vienna ’08), spoke to current Webster Vienna students about his career in the humanitarian sector on September 14, 2016.

Guest Lecture: Witnessing History in the Nuclear Age - With Reiko Yamada, Atomic Bomb Survivor, Hiroshima, WWII

In honor of the day of International Peace,  Ms. Reiko Yamada, survivor of the attack on Hiroshima will speak at Webster Vienna Private University.   She will be accompanied by Ms.  Heather Wokusch, an international educator  with 30 years of teaching experience who has taught and spoken about nuclear disarmament extensively. Ms. Reiko Yamada has dedicated her life to peace and nuclear disarmament, and  will offer the precious and rare opportunity for the participants to hear firsthand accounts on the humanitarian impact of the use of nuclear weapons.

Webster Vienna and ACUNS Collaborate in Panel Discussion on Campus

On September 6th 2016, the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS) Vienna Liaison organized a panel discussion, which was hosted by Webster Vienna Private University on “Youth Combatting Discrimination and Prejudice on the Grounds of Ethnicity and Religion”. The discussion was chaired by Dr. Franco Algieri, the Head of the International Relations Department at Webster Vienna. The panelists that participated in this discussion were: HE Ol’ga Algayerova, the Head of the Permanent Mission of the Slovak Republic to the International Organizations in Vienna, as well as Ms.
