The Marketing Strategies class, MNGT 4920, just completed a successful project with sustainable furniture company, Retyred Furniture.
Retyred Furniture develops furniture made out of old car tires in Indonesia for an Australian Company run by the famous Austrian kite-surfer, Bernie Kudernatsch. The students had the challenge of creating a market entry strategy for Retyred on entering the Austrian market.
Three groups presented their findings to the clients at the ad agency, Identum, in a real life situation, impressing the clients with many ideas,concepts and strategies.

Professor Julia Skobeleva's Spring I Graduate Organizational Behavior course spiced up their last class of the term with an architecture competition. Intended to demonstrate the interaction between individual team roles in an organizational environment, the students were challenged to work in groups to construct a tower using a set of provided materials.
On 7th November, Dr. Mehdi Ali, Professor of Economics, participated in the OPEC Secretariat launch of its 2013 World Oil Outlook and its 2013 Annual Statistical Bulletin. Dr. Ali made two main interventions, one related to the rapid rise of oil domestic consumption in some Arab oil producers members of OPEC. Since this is likely to impact their oil exports, he asked for the views of the OPEC Secretariat. The Secretariat confirmed its awareness of this increase and is dialoging with these countries on the matter. He also commented on energy poverty.
Our MBA student Sona Klucarova was selected to receive the Delta Mu Delta Board Award, one of the prestigious annual scholarship awards presented to outstanding business students by Delta Mu Delta’s central office in Brookfield, IL, USA. The award includes a cash prize of $1,000. Out of all the awarded scholars, Sona is the only one attending a university outside of the US.
