New Fall course offering: Leadership Through People Skills

Undergraduate and Graduate students enrolled in degree programs that require MNGT elective credits are invited to register for this 1-week intensive 3-credit seminar course on Leadership Through People Skills.

Please note: There are no prerequisites required for graduate students. Undergraduate students must have a Junior or Senior Standing and a min. GPA of 3.30 (WebsterLeads students will be given priority).

Meeting the founders of Shpock

On Friday, 26th June 2015 Katharina Klausberger & Armin Strbac, the founders of the app Shpock (SHop in your POCKet) shared their experiences on how they started a successful award-winning online flea market in Austria. They provided guests and students of the MNGT 3100 “Start-ups in eCommerce” course with various interesting insights on what it means to work as an entrepreneur, about the essence of a great team as well as the importance of a shared vision.

Panel Discussion on Successful Entrepreneurship in Austria

The new Certificate in Entrepreneurship kicked off with an interesting panel discussion and networking event on the topic of successful entrepreneurship in Austria. The four panelist and active Webster Vienna faculty members not only discussed how Austria could break out of that “moldy” mindset when it comes to entrepreneurial spirit but also gave insight on what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur and how to transform a business idea into a thriving company:

Excellence in Teaching Award congratulated by OPEC Secretary General

The Business and Management Department would like to congratulate long-term adjunct professor Dr. Mehdi Ali on receiving this year’s Excellence in Teaching Award. His expertise and practical insights into the fields of finance and economics have been highly valued by Webster Vienna students and faculty colleagues. Dr. Ali gained more than 30 years of managerial and economic experience within international organizations such as the World Bank, the United Nations and the OPEC Fund.

Successful Marketing Project of Webster Students: Is Curry Me Home franchiseable?

The students of the MNGT 4920 Marketing Strategies class with Adjunct Professor Dipl. Kfm. Peter Sunley once again provided valuable new marketing insights into a new start-up called Curry Me Home - a spice retailer which currently has two outlets in Vienna. They successfully presented their projects at the advertising agency Identum - to the partner of both companies Hubert Nagele.

This and many more questions were answered at the opening of the brand new photo gallery “Wall of Fame” in the Business and Management Department of Webster Vienna. 14 graduate students of the MNGT 5870 Change Management class presented selected icons of the wall and their role as change agents. The question which the students addressed was how these famous people have made an impact within business and in general?
