Welcoming Dr. Alakoc, IR Faculty from Webster St. Louis
Webster Vienna’s International Relations Department welcomes Dr. Burcu Pinar Alakoc, who is spending the Spring 1 2017 term teaching the graduate level Introduction to International Relations course and conducting research in her area of study.
Dr. Alakoc’s research focuses on the drivers of and solutions to political extremism across the world with a particular emphasis on terrorism and political violence. On February 14, 2017, 6:30pm Webster Vienna will have the pleasure to host Dr. Alakoc for a presentation on her current research project about the connection between the use of female suicide bombers and the fatality of suicide attacks.
Dr. Alakoc has published in a variety of publications, including the Journal of Terrorism and Political Violence and in Hurriyet Daily News. She has also presented her works at a variety of political science conferences.
A native of Turkey, Dr. Alakoc is an Assistant Professor at Webster University’s St. Louis campus.
Her expertise is a welcome and promising addition to the Webster Vienna faculty for the Spring 1 2017 term.
