Webster Vienna Students Earned Virtual Euros
Representatives from Morpher, an online stock trading platform based in Vienna, are collaborating with two business and management courses this Spring Semester on a stock market trading simulation.
Students from Dr. Antonakakis’ International Trade and Finance course as well as Dr. Workie’s Principles of Finance will compete against their classmates to earn virtual Euros on the stock market.
Ivan Struk, a WVPU alumnus and a representative from Morpher
Ivan Struk, a WVPU alumnus, works for Morpher and was one of the representatives to present the platform to Dr. Antonakakis’ class this week. He shared that “a lot of students have already expressed their enthusiasm [about the competition], and we are looking forward to seeing how it goes!” Mr. Struk and his colleague showed students how the platform works and offered some wisdom about trading on the stock market, including covering key terminology about which they’ve been learning.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikolaos Antonakakis, Head of Department, Associate Professor of Economics and Area Coordinator for Economics
Dr. Antonakakis said, “the simulation is a really great way for students to apply the theoretical concepts they are learning about in class.”
Morpher’s CEO Martin Froehler presents the trading platform to students
Dr. Workie’s Principles of Finance course will begin their trading simulation later this semester. The individuals who make the most virtual money in each cohort will receive a small prize from the department.
