Webster Delegates off to Model UN New York

A twelve student delegation from Webster Vienna, Private University, traveled to New York today, to take part in the prestigious National Model United Nations Conference.

The delegation consists of ten students from Webster Vienna, led by Kristina Kubikova & Dennis Heumann. The other students from the Vienna campus are: Iveta Carna, Artyom Rayeveski, Arut Melkonyan, Felicia Nitsche, Lilla Ozorakova, Sofija Lozovic, Daniil Titov and Ester Tahiri. They will be joined by Anna-Lena Wagner, a graduate student at the University of Vienna and Jenna Hopkins, co-founder of the Webster Vienna MUN Club and a senior at Webster’s home campus of St. Louis, MO.

Together they will represent the Republic of Slovakia in eight different committees: GA1, GA2, GA3, a special committee for peacekeeping, CCPCJ, UNEP, UNHCR & NPT Review Conference. In preparation, students did extensive research and put together a portfolio of information pertaining to their committees. They also attended a workshop on writing resolutions and participated in two preparation simulations.

The conference will run from Sunday, March 22nd to Thursday, March 26th and will be concluded with a closing ceremony in the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations Headquarters. On Monday, the delegation will meet with a representative of the Permanent Mission of Slovakia to the United Nations, where they will be briefed about Slovakia’s foreign policy and their role in the United Nations system.
