Leading expert on China and Asia, David Shambaugh, at WVPU from November 19-24
Professor and expert on contemporary China and Asian Studies, David Shambaugh, will be visiting Webster Vienna Private University from the 19th of November until the 24th.
Currently, Prof. Shambaugh is the Gaston Sigur Professor of Asian Studies, Political Science & International Affairs Director, China Policy Program at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington, D.C. and has served as a visiting professor at various universities around the world. Professor Shambaugh has held various positions at several academic institutions, including the University of London's School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), directing the Asia Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (1986-87), and served on the Board of Directors of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (2009-2015). In addition to his work at varying academic institutions, Professor Shambaugh has been the recipient of several research grants, such as the Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. More recently, Professor Shambaugh has been an Honorary Research Professor at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (since 2008).
