New Student Orientation Fall 1 2016

It's that time of year again! Last week Palais Wenkheim was a hive of activity as our newest group of eager Gorloks arrived for their New Student Orientation (NSO) program before classes begin.

Staff, faculty, student leaders of the WebsterLEADS program, and the Student Government Association (SGA) were on hand to welcome their new colleagues, and introduce them to their Webster experience. Among the highlights were multimedia presentations by each academic department to showcase all they have to offer. Coupled with our new workshop on how to make the most of our flexible degree options (majors, minors, double-majors, certificates can all be combined!), students were equipped to start planning their future degree.

The week included team-building excursions to historic Schoenbrunn Palace, an Austrian cooking lesson, an outdoor barbecue on the Danube Island, and a dinner hosted by SGA - and that was just before the weekend started! Friday evening was spent at the Neustifter Kirtag, a local Austrian summer festival, and Saturday the students flew among the treetops at a forest zip-lining park.

By the time all was said and done, our new students were prepared for their Webster experience, their new life in Vienna, and had made heaps of new friends!

Many thanks to all the volunteer students who made NSO possible and set the example for their colleagues.
