Chess Club Hosts Tournament

Webster's Chess Club took over the atrium Tuesday at the first-ever locally organized chess tournament at our campus. From beginners to advanced, all were welcome to take part in the games.President of the club, freshman Evgenii Tilipman, was the main organizer of the tournament.

There were two categories played: Classical and Blitz (10 minute games). When asked about the newly added Blitz category, Tilipman said, "For the first time, the players had to deal with time pressure when playing which threw them off their game; however, that is also positive because they will not be caught off guard next time."

The winners in Blitz category were Alexander Tilipman and Nikita Myasnikov, and in the Classical category, Svetlana Matiushenko and Alexander Tilipman. Thank you to Evgenii Tilipman for organizing the event and congratulations to the winners of the tournament.
