Inside of the beautiful Hofburg Imperial Palace in the heart of Vienna, Webster Vienna Private University’s Commencement Ceremony took place on Saturday, May 18th 2019. As a major milestone in the lives of our students, 89 of the 114 students from the Class of 2019 walked in the ceremony. This included students of 35 different nationalities, across 6 continents, further highlighting the international focus of Webster Vienna.
The host Commencement Ceremony and Director of Webster Vienna Private University, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Johannes Pollak, recognized students attainment with: “The success of a university measured in the degree of independent thinking of its student body and its graduates”. He added that “Students’ theses are testimony to this. If you are thinking before you are speaking and know that opinions are not facts, then we succeeded”.
Students attentively listened to the words of this year’s Commencement Speaker Mr. Mark Garrett, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Marquard & Bahls, who also generously sponsored a number of scholarships for some of our best and brightest students at Webster Vienna: “Because no person gets to where they are all by themselves. Everyone needs support in some shape or form”, he concluded his speech.
A total of five students graduated with the highest distinction available at Webster Vienna, Summa Cum Laude, while in all, degrees were awarded from the following programs: Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, Management, Media Communications and Psychology, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Master of Arts in International Relations and Psychology, Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Finance and Marketing.
Alongside graduating students, three graduates joined the ceremony from the wider Webster community, namely two students from the Webster St. Louis campus and one student from Webster Thailand.
A splendid reception followed the ceremony, in which family and friends joined the graduates and staff of Webster Vienna in raising a well-earned toast to the Class of 2019!
Webster Vienna Private University would like to express sincere thanks to the supporters of the Commencement Ceremony 2019:
