Asia-Europe Think Tank Dialogue

On 26-27 June 2018, the 20th Asia-Europe Think Tank Dialogue took place at Webster Vienna Private University.

The Regional Programme Political Dialogue Asia of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, the EU Centre in Singapore and Webster Vienna Private University organized this year’s Asia-Europe Think Tank Dialogue entitled “Rules-Based Multilateralism in a Changing World Order”. At the conference, scholars from leading think tanks of both regions analyzed recent global and regional developments, the increasing volatility in world affairs and the implications of domestic uncertainties on multilateralism and the rules-based order. A special focus was placed on effective multilateral cooperation between Asia and Europe with regard to security, economics, human security, and EU-ASEAN relations.
The Dialogue took place in conjunction with the ASEM Senior Officials’ Meeting in June in Vienna and in view of the ASEM Summit in October in Brussels. European and Asian policy specialists presented the results of their 2-day dialogue during the concluding Panel Discussion at the conference. In an exchange with ASEM Senior Officials the scholars offered their recommendations for the ensuing ASEM Senior Officials’ Meeting in Vienna.
